Development after 3
opening bid
Remember that the 3 opening bid shows at least 5 cards in each minor and promises 4 to 6 (Roman) losers. The responses are:
pass or 3 | a signoff |
3 | game force (trumps = s) |
3 | game force (trumps = s) |
| 3N | to play |
| 4 or 4 | invitational |
| 4 or 4 | final |
Opener's rebids
| 3 - 3 | raise gently with 4 losers |
| 3 - 3 or 3 | Opener starts by showing which Major suits he controls, Step 1 = control, Step 2 = control, Step 3 = both controlled |
| 3 - 4 or 4 | pass or raise |
